These two intense days marked the culmination of more than a year of research, prototyping and experimentation carried out with artists, researchers, accessibility specialists and a wide range of participants.

Presented alongside the performance On dirait que le soleil, the installation invited visitors to step into a living environment where light, sound, vibration and movement form a shared language. More than an installation to be observed, Perception(s) is a collective instrument that comes into being through the presence and gestures of everyone who takes part.

An Experience Where Bodies Become the Medium

As they move through the installation, participants discover, carry and reposition sensitive modules that respond to movement, vibration and sound. Interactions ripple through the space as waves of light, sonic resonances and tactile vibrations. Every gesture becomes an impulse, every encounter reshapes the behaviour of the environment.

Gradually, the installation ceases to be a scenographic setting and becomes a collective organism, brought to life by the bodies that inhabit it. Visitors are no longer spectators of an artwork; they become its performers, its partners and, in a sense, its co-authors.

Designing a Truly Accessible Experience

From the outset, Perception(s) has been guided by a single question: how can we imagine an experience that does not privilege one way of perceiving the world over another?

The project was developed in dialogue with blind and partially sighted people, Deaf and hard-of-hearing participants, neurodivergent and neurotypical people, as well as accessibility specialists. From the very beginning, we set out to create an environment in which multiple perceptual modalities coexist and enrich one another.

The feedback gathered during this first public presentation reflects this ambition:

“I really appreciated it in relation to my disability (I’m hard of hearing and partially sighted). I could really feel the vibrations and the sound of the rain — I loved that.”
— Mathilde, partially sighted and hard-of-hearing visitor

“What I really appreciated was that it was designed for partially sighted people, blind people and people with hearing impairments. The light effects, the Perception(s) workshop… it was astonishing.”
— Andrée, partially sighted visitor

These testimonies confirm that accessibility is not an additional layer applied to the artwork, but one of the driving forces behind its artistic conception.

A Major Milestone in an Ongoing Journey

This first public presentation marks an important milestone in the development of Perception(s), but it is by no means its final destination. The observations made over these two days are already informing the next iterations of the installation.

In the months ahead, we will continue to expand this sensory ecosystem while preparing new public presentations, residencies and collaborations.

We would like to warmly thank Le Phénix, the teams at Contour Progressif, all of our partners, and everyone who embraced the experience, shared their impressions and helped bring this first version of Perception(s) to life.

Rôles de danse — STOFF2025 https://orbe.mobi/en/roles-de-danse-stoff2025/ https://orbe.mobi/en/roles-de-danse-stoff2025/#respond Mon, 25 Aug 2025 13:42:53 +0000 https://orbe.mobi/?p=3235

For the first time, Rôles de danse is coming to Sweden for STOFF 2025. Rôles de Danse is a playful connected dance experience in which each player embodies one of about fifteen roles. The player is coached by an AI, which helps him embody his role and achieve his goal in conjunction or contradiction with the goals of the other players/dancers, thus generating a rich and stimulating dance performance. During the performance, spectators are subjected to a series of challenges. Rôles de Danse is accessible to a diverse audience and is presented in the form of a participatory performance bringing together the public and accomplice dancers.

The session takes place on Friday, August 29 at 9.00pm
At Teater Tre, Stockholm

What is STOFF?

A multidisciplinary arts festival, acting as a ‘stage’ for local and international artists to present their innovative work—ranging from performance to installation art and anything in between. The festival includes industry-specific panel talks, seminars, workshops, and the all-important Fringe Awards!

Rôles de danse — MOCO’24 https://orbe.mobi/en/roles-de-danse-moco24/ https://orbe.mobi/en/roles-de-danse-moco24/#respond Mon, 20 May 2024 09:15:45 +0000 https://orbe.mobi/?p=2610

6th opus of Creative Europe Vibes project, orchestrated by Orbe team, Danse l’Europe! is a connected dance experience choreographed by Angelin Preljocaj, with music by Jeanne Added. Danse l’Europe ! has been created to embody the French Presidency of the Council of the European Union. Innovative, interactive, inclusive and open to everyone, this artistic experience can be discovered across Europe throughout the first half of 2022.

The 9-minute choreography is available via an application specifically created for the project. Everyone, whether amateurs or professionals, can share a moment of dance, alone or as a group, in various cultural spaces as well as at home, at work, in schools and in public spaces. Guided by the voice of Angelin Preljocaj in French and by other artists in the other European languages, participants get ready, warm up then perform this fun and joyful choreography in their own way.

The application also includes a film by director Tommy Pascal, which portrays the dance protocole performed by 27 European dancers and dance-lovers of all ages. Participants can also send a video of their dance to Numeridanse.tv, the digital platform of Maison de la Danse and coordinator of this shared experience, or upload it to social media using the hashtag #DanseLEurope.
