Rôles de danse is an immersive dance experience in which each participant, whether professional or amateur, takes on one of fifteen roles. Each participant is coached by an AI, who helps him/her to embody his/her role and achieve his/her objective in conjunction or contradiction with the objectives of the other participants. Each role is associated with an immersive 3D sound environment, enabling the person playing it to enter fully into the physicality of their character.

In its show format, Rôles de danse proposes a series of play sessions attended by an audience. A group of accomplices, recruited from among professional dancers, are mixed with the audience. Participants take turns being spectators or players/dancers. Players/dancers are immersed in the collective performance, while spectators try to guess which player is playing which role in a series of challenges.

In its mobile app format, a “game master” creates a session via the app. Other participants join the session from their cell phones.

A session begins with a short 5-minute warm-up phase, after which each participant is given an objective to achieve, in relation randomly assigned role. During the 10-minute play phase, dance encounters generate a variety of choreographic situations, while spectators try to guess who is playing which role. At the end of the session, the identity of each player is revealed to all participants.
